Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Philippians 4:4
Lots has been happening in the classroom and the school year seems to be flying by. We played an equations exit game, had a simultaneous equations sorting activity, added two new students to our class, and took the mid-term exam. The two new students have both been great additions to our class community. I am enjoying teaching this group of students and watching them grow in their math confidence and ability. I am excited to watch one of my students grow in willingness to ask questions. This week we are looking forward to eating pie for pi day. It fell into the curriculum well, as we just finished our unit that involved working with circles. As we move toward spring break, we will be learning how to construct geometric drawings using a compass and ruler. My students have recently had prayer requests for the travel of some of their moms to Hong Kong, Thailand, and Spain.
Out of the Classroom...
Over the past couple of months, I have participated in a curriculum review process for selecting a new math curriculum for the middle school. Our team found a curriculum that has more resources for supporting both teachers and students. We are looking forward to being able to use it next year.
At church, I have joined our Women in the Church planning group, which leads our women's ministries and events. We are planning an evening at the thermal baths, a hike, and a spring bible study in the coming months. Christian and the mission's team have been working to help the pastor we support in Kenya to procure bibles to give away. The pastor was able to hold a bible study for other pastors, and he gave out 58 English bibles and 20 Swahili bibles. These pastors had never owned a bible before. They said that without the bible, they would simply preach sermons that they had heard from other pastors. Please pray that the Word of God would strengthen the faith of these men and their congregations.
Bürgin Family...
As a family we are all doing fairly well, although this week we are all fighting a bit of a cold. Alisa enjoys going for walks, playing with balls, "reading" books and being read to. We spent a quiet Christmas with Christian's side of the family and are looking forward to a week away over Easter break. We are going to Hungary to do some sightseeing and visit some missionary friends. As Easter approaches, we also plan to hang evangelistic posters on some of the community boards in the surrounding villages. Please pray that the people who read these would come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Please Pray...
For my students to continue to grow in their understanding of math.
For my students to grow in their relationships with God.
For the parents' of my students to see fruit in their ministries.
For our church's need for more space as we grow in number.
Praise the Lord, God's provision and grace to us as a family.
Praise the Lord, for the bibles that were given to the Kenyan pastors.
Blessings,
Becky
