The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Isaiah 40:28-29
A number of things have happened amidst the blur of tiredness of the past few months. We had our high school retreat in Switzerland. The speaker was a missionary from Italy, who was also a BFA alumni. He did an excellent job talking about the parables in Matthew 6 and challenging the students to make God their greatest treasure. My small group girls were wonderful as well and did a great job welcoming in another student, Tania, into our group. She is not part of any small group and so was placed with us for the weekend. The girls continued to share vulnerably and invited Tania into the conversations.
In the middle of March, I said good-bye to one of my students. He turned 18 and, as a junior struggling with school, he decided with his family to move to the States and join JobCorp. I pray that this will be a good transition for him, and that he will see God's provision and fully trust Him with his life.
A week ago, my small group and I hit the street of Kandern with some sign cleaning and trash pick-up during our Impact Day. This is a day where the entire student body provides community service to the surrounding area. The girls did a great job and worked hard even though we had dreary weather. Again, they welcomed Tania as she was placed in our group.
Missionary Focus...
My new coworker in the resource room is Amy. She and her husband have served as Wycliff Bible translators in central Asia. They are currently living in Kandern while continuing the translation work from their previous field. Amy has been a great help this semester in supporting a few of the resource students. It has been wonderful having her assistance and cheerful spirit. Amy is helping fill a much needed role here at BFA through the end of this year. After this she will return to working with her husband full-time. Outside of ministry, Amy cares for her three children, two of who have been facing some major medical concerns in the past year. Please pray for Amy and her family as they continue to serve the Lord here in Kandern and in central Asia.
Please Pray...
For my student who moved back to the States to join JobCorp and that he would rely on God
For Amy and her family: for health, strength, and their ministry
For my strength to return as I adjust my eating and rest over Easter Break
For continued reliance on God in the good times and hard times
For opportunities to share truth and show love to my students
For continued spiritual growth in my small group girls
