Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
I Thessalonians 5:11
"I took my students outside to paint landscapes, rather than just having them work from a picture. It was a new experience for them." - H.S. Drawing and Painting Teacher
"I had my students act out scenarios to represent the different types of governments and then used this as a prompt on the test where they needed to explain at least two of the types we had learned about." - M.S. History Teacher
This was some of the positive feedback that was shared in the second cohort that I lead. I have had the opportunity to lead one of BFA's professional development cohorts this past quarter. In our first session, I presented research-based strategies for engaging students in the classroom. We discussed how to engage students cognitively, emotionally, physically, and socially. Within my presentation, I used the strategies to engage the teachers and act as an example for their classes. Between our two sessions, teachers were given the assignment to try one of the strategies they had learned in the first meeting and report back on how it went. It was encouraging to see the teachers trying new strategies and then seeing a positive effect on their classes.

"Becky – this was such a great article! Thanks for sharing!"
I also had the opportunity to contribute an article on differentiation in the March issue of "On Practice," which is TeachBeyond monthly educators' publication. I shared examples of how teachers can differentiate in the areas of content, environment, process, and product. The goal was to give some specific and practical ways for teachers to improve the teaching and learning in their classrooms. It was encouraging to receive a couple of emails from TeachBeyond teachers outside of BFA who were helped by the article.
Reaching Beyond KandernChristian and I attend an international church about 20 minutes away from Kandern. We have grown to love our small fellowship, which is a mixture of local Germans, internationals, and missionaries. As a church, we had the opportunity earlier this year to raise funds to build an orphan home in Kenya. The ladies, who run these homes, place elderly couples or widows in a home to care for a small group of orphans. Our church was able to raise the funds to build a home for a couple and nine children.
Currently, our church and the BFA community are reaching out to help support the refugees that are coming from the Ukraine. Our church has applied to host two families and set up a support network for them while they are in Germany. The BFA community has also been contacted by our local town hall asking for support in housing Ukrainian refugees coming to Kandern.
Please Pray...
Praise God that everything continues to go well with pregnancy; we are expecting a little girl in June!
Praise God that although Christian and I caught covid, it was mild for both of us.
Praise God for each and every one of you as prayer and financial ministry partners, you are a part of God’s work all around the globe!
For no long-term effects from the illness.
For TeachBeyond's global conference; I will spend 5 days in Slovenia gathering with other missionaries.
For April and May and a good close to the end of year.
For the new BFA staff that will be coming next year, many are currently raising support.
For the refugees to have adequate housing and care and for Christ's love to be shared with them.
For a quick end to the Ukrainian conflict.
Blessings,
Becky
